How BMI works — and its limits

BMI compares your weight to your height on a single scale used by health agencies worldwide: under 18.5 is classed underweight, 18.5–24.9 normal, 25–29.9 overweight, and 30+ obese. It's a quick population-level screen, not a body-fat measurement — muscular people often score 'overweight' with low body fat, and it can miss low muscle mass in others. Use it as one general guideline alongside waist size and how you feel, not as medical advice or a diagnosis.
