What 'ideal weight' really means
The Devine formula was created in 1974 to dose medications by body size, and it stuck around because it produces a sensible single reference point: a base weight at five feet plus 2.3 kg for every inch of height above that. But no single number fits every frame, which is why this page also shows the full healthy-BMI span (18.5–24.9) for your height — a range often 40+ pounds wide. Anywhere inside that range can be a healthy weight depending on your muscle, bone structure and body composition. Treat both as general guidelines, not medical targets.
